Golden Paw Punt Pass & Kick

PUEBLO, Colo. — CSU Pueblo will kick off its academic year with the first-ever Golden Paw Celebrity Punt, Pass & Kick Contest on Monday, August 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the ThunderBowl.

Hosted by the CSU Pueblo Foundation, the event launches “Fortnight,” a two-week series of campus and community events introduced by interim President D. Rico Munn.

Local leaders and public figures will take the field in a football challenge where each participant will punt, pass, and kick a football, with the longest combined distance earning the title of Golden Paw Champion.

Confirmed competitors include:

  • Miles Lucero, Pueblo County Commissioner
  • Duane Nava, CEO, Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce
  • Rico Munn, Interim President, CSU Pueblo
  • Noah Commerford, CEO, Pueblo Latino Chamber of Commerce
  • Phil Vigil, Head Football Coach, CSU Pueblo
  • Antonio Huerta, Regional Director, Office of U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper
  • Brett Boston, Pueblo City Councilman
  • Chato Hazelbaker, President, Pueblo Community College
  • Zachary Ballas, Deputy Chief, Pueblo Police Department

“This is a fun way to bring our campus and community together,” said President Munn. “We’re excited to see who walks away with the Golden Paw trophy.”

The event is free and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to attend and cheer on their favorite contestants.
