CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl Suites Ribbon Cutting

PUEBLO, Colo. — Colorado State University Pueblo Foundation and H.W. Houston Construction held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly expanded and renovated suites at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. on the west side of the stadium, 2301 Rawlings Blvd.

The event also included the dedication of the east side press box, the Wall of Champions, and the Foundation Trustee Suites. The project officially began on Feb. 1, 2025, and will welcome fans just in time for the upcoming football season.

The ThunderBowl suites project enhances fan and guest experiences at CSU Pueblo athletic events with upgraded amenities, expanded seating and modernized facilities. The remodel relocated two suites from the east side to the west side and added an additional suite, creating a consistent and elevated look to the building.

The upper level now includes four new suites ranging from 470 to 578 square feet, each with covered balconies and tiered seating. Balconies measure 14 feet by 16 feet. The lower level includes a retail shop of approximately 450 square feet, a 430-square-foot suite, and three additional suites with indoor and outdoor spaces. Indoor space measures approximately 230 square feet and outdoor space approximately 150 square feet.

The suites project is a great addition to our ThunderBowl Stadium. We were pleased at the public interest in this project and H.W. Houston was honored to be a part. I hope this leads to more interest in CSU Pueblo Athletics. Go Pack!” said Louis Nazario, Vice President/Director of Preconstruction, H.W. Houston Construction.

As we get ready for another impactful academic year and football season, we are excited to unveil the new ThunderBowl Suites. These new and renovated spaces will increase our ability to engage with alumni, supporters and the whole community as we come together to support the Pack,” said Rico Munn, interim president of CSU Pueblo.

The expansion of our press box suites is more than just an upgrade in facilities — it’s an investment in the experience of our fans, alumni and community. These new spaces will create a first-class environment that matches the championship standard of Pack Football, while bringing people together to celebrate the game we love,” said Philip Vigil, CSU Pueblo head football coach.

The ThunderBowl is more than a stadium — it’s a home for our Pack and our community. This upgrade sets the stage for an incredible season, beginning with an unforgettable opener. We look forward to seeing everyone at the ThunderBowl this season,” said Paul Plinske, Ph.D., vice president for athletics and strategic partnerships.

I would like to thank the supporters of this project for making this upgrade to the ThunderBowl possible. Without the help of everyone involved — including donors, contractors, suite lease holders, the Foundation Trustees and the university — this project would not have been possible,” said Todd Kelly, president and CEO of the CSU Pueblo Foundation.

Despite weather delays and interruptions from school activities, the construction team worked diligently to complete the project in time for the 2025 season.

The ribbon cutting will include remarks from CSU Pueblo and H.W. Houston Construction representatives, followed by tours of the new suites.
