Lisa Vasquez Vigil, A06

Lisa Vazquez Vigil is a 2006 Mass Communications alumna who embodies the power of education and community. Her journey at CSU Pueblo, and a memorable experience, began with her role as a resident assistant (“A1for life!”). “Not only was I watching my students grow and learn more about themselves, but they helped me become a better person as well,” she fondly recalls. These connections, many of which endure through social media, remain a cherished part of her life.

Guided by the dynamic faculty and staff of the Mass Communications department, Lisa gained not only knowledge but also confidence to excel in her career. Professors like Ebersole, Orman, and Mullen left a lasting impact, inspiring her to carry forward their legacy of care and expertise. “There’s nothing like our Mass Comm department,” she shares with pride.

Now, Lisa applies that passion and dedication as a seasoned professional in higher education. With over 13 years of experience spanning admissions, advising, concurrent enrollment, career development, and now grant management, Lisa is deeply committed to student-serving initiatives. “I marvel at the compassion, heart, and awareness of the students I work with,” she says. Her ability to navigate diverse roles showcases the versatility of the skills she developed at CSU Pueblo.

Lisa’s advice to current students is, to get involved, “I had memorable experiences attending athletic events, cultural programs, and making friendships that have lasted a lifetime.”

Though Lisa now lives outside Pueblo, she remains connected to the ThunderWolf community through the Alumni Newsletter and social media, and she never misses the chance to visit campus when she’s in town. “The new buildings, renovations, and fresh feel are wonderful to see,” she says.

Through her work and unwavering commitment to higher education, Lisa continues to embody the values instilled in her at CSU Pueblo, fostering opportunities and inspiring others to create their own meaningful paths.
