Robin King, A09

Robin King is a 2009 graduate of CSU Pueblo’s Music Education program, she has built a career defined by passion, purpose, and a deep commitment to music, her students, and the community.

During her time at CSU Pueblo, Robin had unforgettable opportunities to travel internationally with the university’s music program. In 2006, she performed in Germany, Austria, and Czechia, and in 2008, she joined her fellow musicians in Italy, singing at several choral festivals, including the honor of performing mass at the Vatican. These experiences not only broadened her worldview but also deepened her love for music as a universal language. Another memory was helping orchestrate the first ever Festival of Winds, which is now it its 18th year.

Now in her 17th year of teaching, Robin continues to live out her dream of being a music educator. She is currently working with Pueblo District 60 to rebuild and strengthen music programs, with the goal of leaving the district better than she found it. Her work ensures that future generations of students will have access to quality music education and the same transformative opportunities that shaped her own journey.

Robin credits her CSU Pueblo education with preparing her to succeed in the classroom and beyond, but she also points to the relationships she built with professors and peers as lasting sources of inspiration. Many of her fellow classmates are now colleagues in music education, and she remains closely connected to her former professors through the vibrant Pueblo music community.

Outside of work, Robin treasures time with her husband, Scott, and their two daughters, Paisley (8) and Charley (6). Whether in the classroom or at home, family and music remain at the heart of everything she does.

When asked what advice she has for today’s students, Robin’s message is simple but powerful: “Keep working toward your goals, and be grateful every day for the path you are on.”
