My name is Halka Brunerova. I am president of Phi Alpha Theta History Club at Colorado State University Pueblo. I am part of a group of dedicated students and members of CSU Pueblo History Club that have worked diligently to foster education, networking and fun opportunities for history majors and any lover of history. Our goal this year is to attend and present our original research at the Biennial Convention of the National History Honor Society in Washington, D.C., on January 2, 2025, and we need your help.
This convention is a pivotal event for our students, offering them the chance to showcase their work, network with peers and professionals, and potentially open doors to future careers or graduate studies. However; as full-time students balancing tuition and everyday expenses, we need your support to make this journey possible.
So far, we have raised $9,800 thanks to the generosity of the History Department, our College Dean, and contributions from the students themselves. We now need to raise an additional $10,000 to cover the remaining costs for this life-changing experience, including conference fees, travel, lodging, and meals.
I am personally motivated to have the opportunity to present my research on the Moravian Church’s racial and gender views practiced in colonial America. The Moravians are descendants of the Hussite movement based in Bohemia and Moravia, today the Czech Republic, the homeland of my origins.
I would love to be able to attend the National convention to gain professional experience by presenting and listening to students’ research from around the country, form lifetime connections and memories, have the chance to deepen my knowledge of history, and perhaps find an opening door to my future.
Your donation will not just fund a trip—it will fuel the ambitions of students like Julie Fellion, who has already presented at national and regional conferences, in 2023 and 2024, and is eager to further her study of women’s history in early modern Europe.
